| Project Title: | Design of Markets and Regulatory Mechanisms for incentivizing adaptation costs in International Climate Change Agreements |
| Abstract of Project : | |
| The cost of climate change adaptation in developing countries in coming years would be tremendous. Poorly designed regulatory measures could risk the economy severely in terms of inefficiencies and costs of missed opportunities. International agreements and cooperation through design of appropriate regulatory standards in the climate change adaptation strategies are critical. My Fulbright project will attempt to work out the adaptation 'regulatory tags' targeted to strengthen adaptive capacity–both command and control (legal mandates). In addition, I will explore market instruments (price caps, markets, insurance, financing schemes, private permits) between North and South for incentivising adaptation costs in international climate change agreements. | |
